Biological graffiti
Exploration of a new territory during a residency about building bridges, “marking out” or “conquering” two unknown cities on opposite sides of the Danube in a gentle way by planting tulip bulbs at every newly discovered spot. The area used to be occupied by the Turkish: the tulip, which is also the turistic symbol of my home country the Netherlands, originates from Turkey. The bulbs were bought at Billa, one of the gigantic supermarkets occupying formerly open space. This intervention had a performative layer, all the 181 locations where tulips were planted were documented and presented as a (random) slideshow.
